Inaugural Athletes Against Autism Golf Tournament
Presented by Cadillac

The inaugural Athletes Against Autism Golf Tournament presented by Cadillac took place on Sunday June 25th & Monday June 26th at the luxurious Bacara Resort & Spa and Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, CA. Over 30 professional athletes and celebrities came together to raise awareness about autism and raise funds in support of Cure Autism Now's research initiatives. Thanks to all those involved, in its first year, the Athletes Against Autism Golf Tournament raised over $200,000 in support of the research initiatives of Cure Autism Now.
Sunday evening, Bacara Resort & Spa was host to a wonderful evening of awareness, fundraising and celebration. The event was highlighted by dinner, reception and an auction that featured rare sports and music memorabilia, and one of a kind theatre, sports, television and travel experiences. With the wonderful support of all in attendance, the auction raised over $43,000.
On Monday, Sandpiper Golf Club played host to over 100 golfers out to test their skills against the athletes and celebrities in attendance. Highlights of the day included a Hole in One Contest featuring a 2006 Cadillac STS, V8, luxury performance package, which went unclaimed, although a few golfers came close, a Longest Drive contest winner of over 300 yards, Accurate Drive, Closest to the Pin and Longest Putt contests. The first place team, which included current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jeb Terry and former NBA player Robert Smith, recorded a scorching score of 5 under in this Team Shamble event, beating their closest competitors by five shots. The entire day was great fun, and concluded with a BBQ dinner and awards reception, one last chance for the guests to rub elbows with current and former professional athletes.
Special thanks to the golf tournament's presenting sponsor, Cadillac. Athletes Against Autism is honored to partner with this extraordinary organization and its staff, working together to help find the causes, effective treatments, and a cure for autism.
